Description
2 Carat Round Lab Diamond Halo Engagement Ring – 14K Yellow Gold
This ring centers on a 2.0 carat round brilliant lab diamond cut to Ideal proportions, graded G color and VS1 clarity, IGI certified. The Ideal cut grade means the diamond’s 57 facets are angled and proportioned for maximum light return — essentially all incoming light exits back through the top of the stone as brightness, fire, and scintillation. The circular halo surrounds the center stone with 30 accent diamonds (E/VS1), adding visual size to the center cluster and creating a second ring of sparkle around the diamond. Total diamond weight across center stone, halo, and band accents is 2.40 carats. The band is 14K yellow gold with a 1.60mm shank — slim enough to keep the ring lightweight while letting the center cluster do the visual work.

Why This Design Works
The round brilliant in a halo is the single most popular engagement ring configuration globally, and the reason is simple: it maximises every variable that matters. The round brilliant produces more brilliance per carat than any other shape — its 57 facets are mathematically optimised for light return, and at Ideal cut grade every proportion is dialled to its peak. The halo multiplies this by adding a continuous ring of accent diamonds around the perimeter of the center stone, which does two things: it makes the overall cluster appear significantly larger than the 2ct center alone, and it provides a visual frame that draws the eye directly to the center diamond.
In yellow gold, the combination is particularly effective. The warm tone of 14K yellow gold creates a strong contrast with both the G color center stone and the E color halo diamonds, making all the diamonds appear brighter and more vivid against the band. The 30-stone halo and band accent diamonds contribute an additional 0.40ct of sparkle that is active from every viewing angle — not just from directly above.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does Ideal cut mean for a round brilliant?
Cut grade is not about shape — it describes how precisely the diamond’s facets, angles, and proportions were executed during cutting. An Ideal cut round brilliant has proportions — table percentage, depth percentage, crown angle, pavilion angle — that fall within the range that produces maximum light return. Essentially all incoming light exits back through the top of the stone rather than leaking out through the sides or bottom. A diamond cut to Good or Very Good standards can look noticeably duller under the same lighting conditions. Ideal is the top grade, awarded to a small percentage of round brilliants, and it has a direct, visible impact on how much the ring sparkles.
How does a halo make the ring look bigger?
A halo adds a continuous border of smaller diamonds immediately around the perimeter of the center stone. From above, the eye perceives the full diameter of the cluster — center stone plus halo — as the visual size of the diamond. A 2ct round brilliant has a face-up diameter of approximately 8mm; with a halo, the total cluster appears closer to 10–11mm across. This is a 25–35% increase in perceived visual size with no increase in center stone cost. The halo also creates a border that prevents the eye from seeing exactly where the center stone ends, adding to the impression of size.
What does G color VS1 mean?
G is the first grade in the near-colorless range on the GIA scale (D–F are colorless, G–J are near-colorless). In yellow gold, where the warm metal provides contrast, a G color diamond looks completely white to the naked eye — no warmth or tint is visible. The near-colorless range offers essentially the same visual result as the more expensive colorless grades when set in yellow gold, which is why G is one of the most popular color grades for yellow gold settings. VS1 (Very Slightly Included) means inclusions require a loupe to find — the stone is fully eye-clean.
Why is a round halo better on a round center than a square or cushion halo?
A round halo follows the natural circular outline of the round brilliant center stone. The halo’s perimeter and the center stone’s girdle share the same curved geometry, which means the halo diamonds sit flush against the center stone at a consistent distance all the way around. A square or cushion halo on a round center would create angular corners that conflict with the round stone’s circular outline, and the inconsistent gaps between the halo and the stone would look uneven. The round halo on a round center is geometrically correct — both elements share the same language and the result is clean and cohesive.
How many diamonds are in this ring total?
31 diamonds in total: 1 center stone (2.0 carats, round brilliant Ideal cut) and 30 halo and band accent diamonds (E color VS1, 0.40ct total). Combined total carat weight is 2.40 carats.
Can I change the metal?
Yes. This ring can be made in 14K or 18K gold in yellow, white, or rose, or in platinum. Contact us before ordering — call 917-477-8663 or message through the site. 14K yellow gold is shown in the photos.
Can I choose a different center stone size?
Yes. We can build this halo design with a round brilliant center from 1 to 4 carats. Call 917-477-8663 with your budget and we will price it out. Different colour and clarity grades are also available.
Is a lab-grown diamond a real diamond?
Yes — chemically and physically identical to a mined diamond. Same carbon crystal structure, same hardness of 10, same refractive index and light performance. The only difference is origin. This diamond comes with an IGI certificate confirming its cut, colour, clarity, and carat weight.
